NEWS- SCOTLAND- Child Protection Statistics: 2024-25
The Scottish Government has released its latest child protection statistics for 2024–25, highlighting several key trends across local authorities. As of 31 July 2025, 2,087 children were recorded on the child protection register, a slight decrease of 1% compared to the previous year.
The data also shows that around half of the children newly added to the register during 2024–25 were living in Scotland’s most deprived communities.
The primary concerns identified at child protection planning meetings remained consistent, with domestic abuse, neglect, parental substance misuse, parental mental ill health, and emotional abuse being the most commonly reported factors.
