STUDY- THE CENTRE OF EXPERTISE ON CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE- FROM SUPPORT MATTERS

The Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse (CSA Centre) has published a report examining the support services available in England and Wales for non-abusing parents and carers of children who have experienced sexual abuse. Drawing on two prior research studies, the report presents data on 177 services supporting parents and carers as of late 2024. Key findings include:

  • Support for parents remains limited across England and Wales, with significant regional variation.

  • Nearly half of services were either operating waiting lists or not accepting new referrals for parents.

  • Services reported challenges including insecure funding, increased staff workloads, and difficulty meeting demand.

The report highlights ongoing gaps in provision and underscores the need for improved, sustainable support for families affected by child sexual abuse.
