RESEARCH- Family Group Conferences: Service Design and Family Experience
Foundations has published research exploring the experiences of families in England who are offered a family group conference (FGC). The study included a rapid review of existing evidence, data collection from local authorities, and interviews and focus groups with practitioners, experts, and parents or kinship carers. The findings show that while FGC services are widely available, they are not offered everywhere, and referral rates across the country remain relatively low. The research also highlights differences in access and uptake based on age, ethnicity, and disability. It recommends further work to better understand issues of equitable access and participation. Alongside this, Foundations has produced a practice briefing for local authorities.
