PRESS RELEASE- New visits to report on the ‘local offer’ for young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have today published guidance for the next series of area SEND thematic visits.

New Visits to Review SEND Local Offer Provision

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have introduced a programme of visits to review how local areas are delivering their SEND Local Offer, the support and services available for children and young people aged 0–25 with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

These visits will assess how well local areas understand the needs of their communities, how services are planned and delivered, and the extent to which children, young people, and families are involved in shaping local provision.

Inspectors will speak with families, service providers, and local partners to gain a clearer picture of experiences and outcomes, helping to identify strengths and areas for improvement in SEND support across local areas.
