How to find the right safeguarding training for your organisation

Finding the right training provider for safeguarding can be a big task:

I remember attending various safeguarding training courses over the past 19 years and if I am honest, although I have attended some incredible specialist sessions based on different types of risk or abuse, I also always felt what I lacked was truly impactful and practical safeguarding training from level 3 onwards.

I have attended many level 3 courses and Designated Safeguarding Lead training sessions both face-to-face and in an e-learning capacity and yet I was always left feeling unfulfilled or a little unsure as to what was fully expected of me both operationally and/or strategically. There was not much of an emotional connection built other than the one I had developed through working in safeguarding, child protection, and the different industries I had worked in.

When I went into management, I realised that most people with a safeguarding role felt the same. I wanted to develop something that really embodied the ethos that safeguarding people regardless of age, or statutory responsibility is a part of wider society and does not just affect individuals or those in certain sectors. It impacts people on a wider scale within our workplaces and our communities.

So, I guess you can say I went ahead and did it! I had to start somewhere so I started off with some content development and over the past few years our courses have become something we are extremely proud of and passionate about at RLB. But I wanted to go one step further, I wanted to ensure that experts and trusted organisations from a range of different industries would endorse the course material and reinforce that the training was not only approved but also impactful. So, then I also thought, what else can I give people? It dawned on me that I could make the training accredited which again I am extremely proud of.

Our courses are individually tailored to each participant and their sector and are highly scenario based. We take participants on an operational and strategic journey that really does look into our own personal experiences and attitudes and values. By using research based, but also humanistic and emotional intelligence approaches we truly can leave a training course feeling much more confident, competent, and connected to our role. Which honestly has been one of the biggest wins we have had in RLB over the past few years.

So here we are, we now have a variety of courses ranging from level 2- level 5 that are fully accredited as nationally recognised qualifications and are designed and delivered with over 19 years of experience within the safeguarding field across a variety of sectors. We ensure that we design and deliver only the most current and up-to-date, safe, and best practice guidance led training material and again having them regularly approved and vetted by a range of trusted experts in the field.

It can be difficult to choose where to access training as there are so many organisations out there who deliver similar things and some incredible services that exist. However, it is important to connect with a trainer and to make sure they know your industry and fully understand what they can offer. When choosing our accredited training at RLB, we want to give you as much as we can. You will therefore receive a complimentary pre-training consultation when booking any course to ensure your expectations will be fully met and then you will also receive a post-training consultation to support you with how to embed the learning. Participants also receive a bespoke handout after completion of the course for level 3 and above.

Accreditation means that our courses:

  • Are at nationally recognised Levels.

  • Are quantifiable as they have notional learning hours/ CPD points attached to them.

  • Allow participants to receive a professional certificate which they can use as proof of learning.

  • Have quality assurances in place.
